Hi, here is my story being a retired Australian in Thailand since last year. I have had a Thai girlfriend here since May last year. As other members have stated you will need to go to VFS Global to apply for Australian Visa and provide all the appropriate forms and supporting documents as well as providing Biometrics. Your application will cost you about 4000B, this is non refundable if your visa application is rejected. If you don't live in Bangkok then you have travel and accommodation costs on top of that.

We applied for a Australian visa back on the 25 July and we are still waiting for an answer. We were asked to provide more evidence of our relationship after a few days, since then no feed back. When we sent the additional documents by email we did not even get a auto generated answer as to receiving our email. I tried to contact immigration on several occasions, however, I have found out that immigration at the Embassy will not talk to you direct by phone, your only choice is to email them, good luck with a response!. You can however, talk to somebody in the diplomatic side of the Embassy, who will fob you off with phone numbers that give you the royal <deleted>''''''''''''ín run around.

Unfortunately, at this stage Thailand has been listed by the Australian Immigration as a Medium - High risk for Thai nationals seeking visas to Australia across the board, tourists, work, business. etc. They are concerned that she has paid you money to get into the country, then disappears and works illegally.

You do have one thing in your favour, you have shown you have been to other countries and your Thai G/F has returned to Thailand.

All I can say is good luck.

I'm having a similar experience. Perhaps more later.

you have obviously never paid taxes there, never got stuffed around by social services, never got deprived of a pension despite paying millions into the government's coffers?

you never had your life turned upside down because your wife ended up cheating you into getting pregnant.

you don't pay land tax or or council rates for delivering nothing other than the bill, never got fined A$ 180 and three points for having your truck break down on the side of the road.

you have never been told by some third generation social security recipient, who has never worked a day in his useless life, to get your arse going when you were refurbishing his housing commission home for which he pays 25% of the going rate and the rest comes out of your taxes.

it is not, it is a sink hole for hard working people.

How would you know what I do , you have no idea what I pay and what I don't pay .

Australia is what made you to day ok , if not for Australia you would not be in thailand now would you and that is the truth but for some people the truth hurts.

It is a great place and you can think what you want about it , but 25 million people think it is great .

Housing commission home tell me more about you .

you tell me what is wrong with hard working people, not one thing , I loved my work that is why I am a   Multi millionaire .

Because I work hard to get there .

One more thing you say it is a sink hole well that sink hole gives you a life in thailand is that not true, yes it is , we will leave it at that .

OK George, you are a multi-millionaire, hard-working and love Melbourne weather. That's if we believe everything you say.

I'm just wondering why you are wasting your time with us peons on Thai Visa. The multi-millionaires I have known have better things to do with their time.

Not understand it , I have never ever had a problem with my parents visa at all .

And we have done it 3 times in the last 16 months.

it cost 6.600 thai bht and 200 thai bht to send it to my parents home address.

yes the government is worried about people going and working in Australia and so it should be , because lots of man take them back and let them work on that visa .

Our experience has been that the first Australian tourist visa issued was a3 month single entry visa. Subsequent visa applications resulted in 12 month multiple entry visas being granted - without asking. It's like you prove you'll return to Thailand after the first visa, then you're then OK for 12 month multiple entry. They still want / need the same huge wad of information each time you reapply though!

I have tried 2 times for the 12 months one and can't get it and my friends 2 of them the same , looks like now you have no hop of getting the 12 months one .

George, I am not jealous of you.

When I was living in Melbourne, I was a member of the National Golf Club. I mixed with more multi-millionaires than you could shake a stick at. My name is on a couple of the honour boards  several times, and many of the people there envied me.

Many of the multi-millionaires were class acts. A few were total a###holes who were obsessed by how rich and successful they were. Their golfing ability seemed to be inversely proportional to their wealth. I took great care to avoid playing golf with them.

I guess it's not hard to work out which category I've put you in.

i know what category you are in but if I say I will get band so let's just leave at that .

I will defend my country to the hill .

you accuse me of making assumptions and than fire off a few yourself in just the second sentence?

you ask me to tell you more about something and than close your post with ...'we will leave it at that'?

learn to read, you probably went to school in oz where they teach the kids nothing, than read my post again and than, if you still believe your ill - informed post is worth discussing, contact me again, mr. multi - millionaire.

do you know the meaning of the word 'pathetic' ?

i would imagine that the vast majority of successful people like me living and working in australia see it exactly the other way round:

we made australia, not australia made us. and unfortunately, the 'country' often stood in our way. it still does.

but i admit we could have done a much better job.

no matter what guarantees  i gave! and, yes, i am and have been an australian citizen since 1984.

Very interesting. On the other hand my gf has been to AU on 4 different occassions. The first visa was a setv valid for 3 month stay. Next was 12 month multi. The process was simple and straightforward. You obtain the visa within  10 working days. It is very important to provide all the supporting docs that can support the application.

In my previous posts on this thread i have mentioned an excellect  site that gives some great info. Often using an agent is worst thing to do. Not suggesting that you did.My gf had no job. I mention this as only one example of not needing to tick every box that me imagine is vitally important. BTW ..a guarantee is only considered if it backed up with evidence. You did not mention the reasons given when your applications were declined.

Did you answer the question I was asking you , NO .

if not for Australia you would not be in thailand ok .

Do not make excuses For you wanting to live in thailand and putting Australia down you

made your  Choice to go and live in thailand good on you but not put a great country like Australia down because you are not that happy in thailand.

I hope a mod comes alone and cleans this thread up. There are many that would have interest in OP,s question and wish to avoid petty gripes between some members

Yes it is ok, and you stay out of it .

no one is talking to you .

It's a public forum and I'm entitled to post just as much as you are.

I find your hypocrisy (look it up) laughable.

You insult a lot of people for having a different opinion than you, then

have a go at someone for insulting you.

If you're going to throw insults out, be prepared to get some back.

Could you be more specific on the website you refer to. The search brings up mainly visa agents.

Type in " oz visa Thai partner"

It near top.  ozvisathai.

ozvisathai.com

Its not an agent or add. Its written by an Australian experienced in process. He points out that he does not possess any qualifications such as lawyer etc.

Site is very user friendly and has all the links for forms etc. While it specifically deals with AU , the information also may be useful to help applications to other countries.

we always succeeded, my wife has been in autralia as my girlfriend several times.

the process of getting a visa for oz, while cumbersome, turned out a lot easier than getting one for germany. but each one was single entry. i try not to use an agent, no matter what i do. i don't like skimmers.

cheers
