Puccini
Published: Sept. 6, 2016IS SEX IN LATER YEARS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH? Contact(s): Hui Liu , Andy Henion Having sex frequently – and enjoying it – puts older men at higher risk for heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems. For older women, however, good sex may actually lower the risk of hypertension. That’s according to the first large-scale study of how sex affects heart health in later life. The federally funded research, led by a Michigan State University scholar, is published online in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior. “These findings challenge the widely held assumption that sex brings uniform health benefits to everyone,” said Hui Liu, an MSU associate professor of sociology whose vast research on the link between health and relationships has been featured in the New York Times, USA Today, NPR, Time and many other national and international news outlets. Puccini
Older men enjoying frequent sex have increased risk of heart problems Sample Science editor Tuesday 6 September 2016 05.15 BST Good news for women, however: older women with robust sex lives show no ill-effects, and those having enjoyable sex tend to have lower blood pressure As if to demonstrate that every silver lining has a cloud, researchers in the US have shown that older men who enjoy frequent sex raise their chances of developing heart problems. But the same was not seen for older women, who appeared to suffer no ill-effects from a robust sex life, and tended to have lower blood pressure when they found sex highly enjoyable. Men in their late 50s to mid-80s who indulged in sexual activity once a week or more had twice the risk of heart attack, stroke or other cardiovascular conditions over the next five years, compared with men who went without, the researchers found. Merylhighground
^ba-dum-tish! It does me bloody good. The wife knows exactly how to get my heart racing and get me out of bed all inside of five minutes and walking the hounds or tending to the sprogs, especially of a Sunday and Saturday Morning..... Sheryl
Closed in keeping with Health Forum Rule #4: "4. Posting/pinning of news articles: The forum is for members to seek advice on health/beauty related matters. it is not the place for general dissemination of news, research findings etc. Members are not to post news articles/research findings unless in the context of a discussion specific to a TV member's health/beauty related problem. " The reason for this rule is that the Moderators do not have the time to deal with the inevitable misreporting and misinformation...including, as in this case, confusion between correllation and causation.
