Can they teach the police to use road islands as they seem to be putting them everywhere and no one knows what to do

Oxymoron?

mis·no·mer
misˈnōmər/
noun

  1. a wrong or inaccurate name or designation.
"“king crab” is a misnomer—these creatures are not crustaceans at all"
    synonyms: inaccurate name/label/designation, wrong name/label/designation, inappropriate name/label/designation
"scientists say “killer whale” is a misnomer for what is one of the gentlest marine creatures known to man"
    • a wrong or inaccurate use of a name or term.
"to call this “neighborhood policing” would be a misnomer"

So the only difference between the 'Smart Police' and normal Police is a hollow tube with a string loop, have I missed something here?

I was thinking this was a spoof from "Not the Nation", until I saw the link to the "Thai News Agency" at the bottom of the OP.

I wonder if they do laundry and some grass cutting in the garden. They certainly would get more calls on 911.

No comment was made about any costs, contracts, or other related expenses.

Thai 'smart' police........an oxymoron if ever there was one.

I've read many poorly written articles on tv.com, but this has to be the worst.

I think they are making a cheap imitation of the latest Japanese Police technology...

I'm surprised Pattaya bar owners haven't deployed these for non-payers of their bill!

In Bang Sue BKK they do garbage collecting on a bicycle....well at least they do something.

Let's think this out for a minute!

The poles are too long to be carried on a motorcycle.

The best case scenarios are that they are strapped to the roof of a police car or carried about in a designated police "take-down" truck.

One officer and a pole will not suffice.

Two officers will have to be extremely adept at holding their poles, entangling and then somehow subduing the "culprit".

Three to four officers against this "culprit" seems about what it would take.

So what is the advantage of the poles?

Nunchuk training would be far more "smart".

I can appreciate the police trying to think "outside of the box"

but this smacks of thinking "inside the bag"

Maybe the police will become adept at rodent and reptile management and huge billboards with contact info and snarly looking types will be posted.

Great for laughs!

by hook or by crook,

how to hook a crook

"Honey, I'm of to work now, where is my culprit pole?"

"You used it to support the string beans in the garden!"

"Hell's bells - I need something to take to the smart office!"

"Do we have a used mop handle lying around?"

It possibly could be, if the riches weren't concentrated in the hands of the elite, or squandered trying desperately to uphold the utterly toxic national culture.

I'm firmly in the "change is imminent" camp. How imminent, how rapid the change begins, and what form that change takes is open to conjecture.

A Taser or dart gun would be a lot easier and not take six police.

'Smart Police'... :cheesy::cheesy:

i think its basically an expensive couple of million baht project - except to pocket more and skim from the top instead of investing in tasers they sent someone to homepro to buy some blue piping. RESULT 9.99 million for me and 1000 baht for the public...

How about a taser?  Oh, too smart.

Tasers are one of those new-fangled fads and are useless when the battery dies but these shepherds's staffs are "old skul".

No batteries. No having to remember to plug them into the charger each night.

Just hook an arm or leg and pull.

brings new meaning to the police expression of "collaring" the bad guy--just hook it around the neck!

Reminds me of some of the films I saw as a kid, and even Jack Benny etc. on TV.  "Get the hook, get the hook" and the "performer" was pulled off stage. I periodically send some of my retired police friends back in the states the utube's of Thai's finest at work. OMG, the replies I get...lol.

A smart Thai policeman will surely stick a big knife on the end of his pole..

Are these smart police the elite who are heading up the pokemon task force?
