Last time i saw this was at Asiatique area  in Bangkok. 

was very nice ,  but not so good for the waist line !!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure what the Somsakdi version is like but they're famous for it. Also the flaming chicken!

The fried ice cream there is a bit like an arctic roll, but round and deep fried.

I like a nice deep-fried ice cream for dessert, but have never seen that here.  Growing up in the midwestern USA, I always thought it was a Mexican dessert.  Didn't realize the regional variations of it:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fried_ice_cream.  The accompanying photo on that page is of "Fried ice cream served at a Thai restaurant ". 

 

 

There is a couple of places selling fried ice cream in Pattaya floating market.
