I'll be in Laos this week.

Could anyone recommend a guest house in the 300-500 Baht in Vientiane. Obviously I'm not looking for frills but clean and user-friendly.

Later I'll be in Luang Nam Tha. Does anyone have any info re accommodation? I found one place on the net but they're asking 30 $ a night. I didn't want to stretch to this.

Thanks for your help

Walk along 5 mins and you are at the fountain in centre of town

I stayed there in Oct./04 and thought it nice enough.

Thanks for the tip, how much were you paying back then?

Briggsy,

Pretty sure it was US$13 for air con room and US$10 for fan room so 4-500 baht.

I took the fan room because I don't like air con and 400 baht comes to mind.

If it faces the street some light will come through the curtains but they do have rooms facing the back.

I saw several other places, the ones cheaper were backpacker slums and others were US$20-25 and not really better, just larger. They were in the same area so its not as if they were charging more for a better location.
