BANGKOK, 11 September 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Interior has denied a rumour claiming the recently approved Hajj Affairs Promotion Act will affect the nation’s administrative structure, stating the rumors are false and bears no credibility, says an official.

The Ministry of Interior's Permanent-Secretary Grisada Boonrach has issued a message elaborating on the recent amendment to the Hajj Affairs Promotion Act BE 2524, stating that this new law allow changes to be made to authorization, regarding Hajj affairs from the Ministry of Culture, allowing the Ministry of Interior to act as the Office of the Hajj Affairs Promotion Committee Secretariat without changing any other principles to better improve Hajj affairs in Thailand.

The authority’s responsibility for Hajj affairs in Thailand includes the facilitation of Thai pilgrims to Hajj, providing security protection, and preventing the pilgrims from being exploited. The government will not be tapping into the national budget to support pilgrims’ transportation cost to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The permanent-secretary has also elaborated the Fund for Travelers to Hajj Pilgrimage, that it is a circulating fund established for private transportation providers with proper registrations to access the fund for advance payment to accommodations in Saudi Arabia. The advance payment will be repaid after all pilgrims pay for their accommodation.

Mr. Grisada requests the public to double-check facts before sharing such rumors on social media.
