PM says Thailand will be corruption-free in 20 years

BANGKOK, 12 September 2016 (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said the government will not intervene in the Thai justice system, while urging everyone to cooperate with the government to combat corruption.

Germany: Merkel party holds on as strongest in local vote 

 

BERLIN (AP) — Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives held on as the strongest party in municipal elections in a western German state despite a dip in support, while an upstart nationalist party fell short of 10 percent of the vote, according to results released Monday.

Plans for 12-lane highway approved

PHUKET: -- Governor Chamroen Tipayapongtada announced on September 6 that preliminary plans for a proposed 12-lane highway running the length of the island have been approved and may be completed by 2022.

PHUKET: -- Police are looking for a foreign woman, believed to be Russian, who abandoned her vehicle and fled the scene after her car slammed into the back of a pickup truck in Srisoonthorn, central Phuket, yesterday morning (Sept 11).

PHUKET:-- Police have cited an “existing medical condition” as to blame for a 66-year-old Chinese man dying after falling unconscious while swimming with a life jacket on during a boat tour to Phi Phi Island yesterday (Sept 11).
