Finlaco
Hi guys I know that its not the 'nicest' place to get a Single Entry visa, but circumstances will have me there in January. Any member have a recent experience in KL? Thanks
BritTim
From what I have read, it is a bit of a crapshoot. If you catch them on the right day, or they like your face, you may be OK. On other days, they will torture you with document requests then turn you down.
vaultdweller0013
I got a new non-B for employment from KL recently. Submitting the documents went smooth. I got to the embassy about 10 min before they opened and there was already a line of about 20 people. However, I was still done within an hour. One note is that I made sure all of the company documents were the original copies with the company seal stamp. I don't know if they would have accepted versions with copies of the company seal. The only hiccup was that it took 3 days to get the visa back and not the normal next day turn around. When they called, they said it was a problem with their systems that caused this; no idea if this was real and 1 day turn around is normal or just an excuse to be able to wait 3 days. While waiting to submit, my main take-away from watching what was going on at the counters was that they were strict on the requirements. Couple a people were trying to get tourist visa without flight or hotel bookings, and that wasn't working. The KL embassy has one of the better websites for listing the required documents: http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/th/services/4731 If you click through to the different visa types, there is a checklist of documents for each.
elviajero
As long as you can provide what's asked for, and don't have a passport full of old tourist visas, you should have no problem getting a SETV in KL. If for any reason you do fail in KL you could make a quick trip to Penang where the requirements are far less and success all but certain, as long as you haven't had 3 or more from there already.
