20 new people in Thailand found infected with Zika virus weekly

BANGKOK, 15 September 2016 (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health has revealed that on average, 20 new Zika infections are reported in Thailand each week.

Permanent Secretary for Public Health Dr. Sophon Mekthon said even though the Zika outbreak has not expanded to other parts of the country, it is important for everyone to ensure mosquito breeding habitats are destroyed.

Out of 33 infected pregnant women, eight have given birth to healthy babies. The remaining 25 women remain under close medical attention. Dr. Sophon has urged all provinces to do their best to prevent a Zika outbreak.

Provincial authorities are expected to take proactive measures to identify infected patients, protect pregnant women, destroy Aedes mosquito breeding habitats and assist Zika patients.

So it is an outbreak now?

Expanded "to other parts of the country" from where? The headline and the byline both make it appear the outbreak is country-wide.

They said it was no real issue , Monday 20 new cases is it an issue now or when its 20000, new cases  I am sure this wont affect tourism.

Expanded to other parts of the country or not expanded to other parts of the country - neither make sense when there is no starting point, and the headline and the byline both make it appear the outbreak is country-wide.

Pray to god it doesn't come to Chiang Mai.

Have you not mastered government double speak yet. If they say there is no reason to worry panic pack your bags and go home.

In  view of the facts that (1) the vast majority of infected people have no symptoms, (2) the virus can be spread by male-female sexual contact, (3) Aedes  mosquitoes can fly at least 800 meters from their hatching habitat, (4)  the Ministry is relying the higgledly-piggledy identification of new cases, and (5) this is the rainy season with abundant ideal mosquito habitats all over the place, I think that it is probably safer to assume that the Zika virus is now endemic in Thailand.

Zika virus has been around for ages. Never any real problem. This new hysteria in the N.E. of Brazil was an OP ED for the globalists. The fact being that any and all birth defects from ZIKA were caused by the GMO mosquitos that were manufactured to kill the mosquito population off but and unintended by product was that the recessive gene activity in the mosquito population there in Brazil was transferred into humans! Accident ? I don't think so. Then came the monsanto poisons to rid the area of the mosquito population n request of the UN. Now you have a poison problem. Zia is not the problem, the globalist agenda is. If you have a computer , USE IT, the info is out there with all the quality findings from people who have no dog in the fight. Do be scammed by their scare tactics. It is a man made problem. Go figure.

In all the reports are only women mentioned. So, for men, this virus is harmless?

There were news reports of it in Chiang Mai months ago. The government sprayed/fogged in Sansai already (where they never used to) due to some cases of that.

It's not just the mosquito.

  • Zika can be passed through sex from a person who has Zika to his or her sex partners.
  • Sex includes vaginal, anal, oral sex, and the sharing of sex toys.
  • Zika can be passed through sex, even if the person does not have symptoms at the time.
  • It can be passed from a person with Zika before their symptoms start, while they have symptoms, and after their symptoms end.

Though not well documented, the virus may also be passed by a person who carries the virus but never develops symptoms.

Studies are underway to find out how long Zika stays in the semen and vaginal fluids of people who have Zika, and how long it can be passed to sex partners.

that many studies say the small brain is coming from pesticides, does not matter in this case?

This Zika virus is starting to worry me.

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/177406/20160913/zika-virus-effects-on-adults-zika-virus-can-damage-brain-and-memory-new-evidence-suggests.htm

Now, Italian researchers report of another danger of Zika. In a letter published in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases, the researchers reported that they have found evidence that Zika infection can affect the brains of adults and damage memory.

Emanuele Nicastri, from the National Institute for Infectious Diseases Lazzaro Spallanzani, and colleagues described the case of a 32-year-old nurse who was infected with Zika in the Dominican Republic.

More than a week after she returned from the Dominican Republic, the woman went to a clinic because of a set of symptoms that include rash, weakness and headache. She eventually had trouble walking and had to be hospitalized because of her neurological symptoms.

I draw some comfort in the fact, that what ever creature bites me,will die of alcoholic poisoning.

Whether it becomes an outbreak or not is incidental. Zika is less of a problem than a slight cold as most people dont even know they've got it.

It amuses me what all the fuss is about - now dengue fever that is more of a problem and potentially fatal. Forget about  zika and work on eradicating dengue - not with larvicides that cause microcephaly but through eliminating breeding grounds by destroying them!!

Zika sounds like a cool name for a sportswear brand.

Add it to a logo and voila!

Although ....

Zika infection during pregnancy can cause serious birth defects and is associated with other pregnancy problems.

Australian Gov puts out a warning.

Current Advice Level:
    High degree of caution

Latest update:
There is ongoing transmission of Zika virus in Thailand. A number of cases have been reported in Bangkok. All travellers should protect themselves from mosquito bites. Adopt additional measures advised by the Australian Department of Health, including deferring non-essential travel if pregnant and other advice for both males and females (see Health). The level of our advice has not changed. We continue to advise Australians to exercise a high degree of caution in Thailand. Higher levels apply in some parts of the country.

Wow, an even worse approach to this outbreak than the govts.

I honestly did not think this was possible.

Congratulations.

Have you considered a job at TAT?

All we need now is the emergence of a new super mosquito hi-bred that can fly further breed faster and sting harder. I fully concur with your last sentence but I am sure that TAT disagrees with us. The Sh*t/Zika has hit the fan.

The tell me that if your infected your wee willie wonka will suffer from a permanent droop. Even watching porn will not restore its erectness. Your doomed. Just kidding.

So, nobody knows if it has any effects to men. Google Zirka Virus and you find only pregnant women.
