PM attends UNGA71 in new York

BANGKOK, 19 September 2016 (NNT) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has traveled to New York where he will attend the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 71) and preside over the Ministerial Meeting of G77 countries.

General Prayut left Suvarnabhumi Airport late last night on a flight bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport, USA. More than 195 countries are participating in the UNGA 71.

It is the first time for the assembly to have all members coming together to debate. They will be discussing and exchanging viewpoints under this year’s topic, entitled ‘The Sustainable Development Goals: the Universal Push to Transform our World’.

General Prayut is expected to talk about Thailand’s efforts in national security and social and economic development on which the UN places great importance. During his participation, the Thai premier will present how His Majesty the King’s sufficiency economy concept is relevant to sustainable development and the Thai government’s road map.

The Prime Minister will also attend other meetings held in conjunction with main event including the G77 summit, Leader’s Summit on Refugees, the Anti-Microbial Resistance Conference and the High-level Event on the Entry into Force of the Paris Agreement.

I wonder how many non-government people are on that plane. I mean family or friends. All these international flights by the regime need to be monitored for corruption and waste.

Imagine the irony if he were to be deposed. Not suggesting it, of course.

Wow what a slanted article. Will he actually be presiding over something important. Quote  General Prayut is expected to talk about Thailand’s efforts in national security and social and economic development on which the UN places great importance. unquote. National security? Is someone attacking us or threatening to do so? The toothless UN is placing great importance on something WOW. Turn out the UN from the building and turn it into a giant house of ill repute. Lets get some financial return from this decades old dinosaur.

Sure he will make brilliant comments about freedom of speech, invigorating commerce, beach chairs and bike lanes.

They just can't let up can they?

Can you think of one area of Thai political, economic or social life that adheres to this nebulous concept? Apart from them always talking about it as though they do subscribe to it, I mean.
