Hi, My thai visa runs out in about a month and I need to do a visa run, I was thinking of going to Siem Reap and wanted to avoid travelling to phnom penh. I have herd there are places that will fill in the paper work and take your passport to phnom penh for you. Has anyone experience doing this? what is the cost and how long does it take? Thanks

So my guess is he wants to go to Siem Reap (Cambodia) and wants an agent in SR to get him a visa from the Thai Embassy in Phnom Phen.

Hi Yes I mean to travel to Siem Reap Cambodia and have an agent to get the visa from the embassy in Phnom Phen. I just need to know how long it takes so I know how long I will need to stay in Siem Reap for basicly, and also how much it will cost, thanks

There are several agents, and the price depends on how quickly you want the passport back with visa. I believe anything faster than 4 days costs extra. You will need to shop around for the best price. I have not been in Siem Reap for a while, so cannot advise on a good agent now. Shop around.

I recommend 5 Oceans in PP they do all my visas and paperwork (just need 1 photo), very reliable and good English. They may have a contact in SR or can sort something. Inc visa - $45 for 4 days and $60 for next day plus obvious travel time and cost SR PP. Google 5oceanscambodia

very easy just got back myself 4000bht wait 3 days just enjoy the temples siem reap nice people cheep and well worth a look

there are touts at the border that can do it for you if you don't want to travel just stay as close to the border in Cambodia as you can you need 2 passport photos a copy of your passport and an adrees that you will be staying at if its a house adrees a copy of land book and I sent a copy of my wifes ID card as well believe me they will find you don't have to look far

I'm not sure which 'touts' I would trust with my passport.  Generally, you want an agency that is attached to a long-term business. 

 

I know some agents in PP which are safe - but would like to know a safe contact in Siem Reap, as my Thai GF and I would like to go there on a future visa-run.

yeah I did it last year...go to any travel agent and they'll do it for you..ready in a few days..fast easy and non expensive.

Hi Thanks for the info :),  was that for the express visa service? 4000 baht seems like alot but 3 days seems super fast also? I have wouldn't mind staying in Siem Reap for a week or 10 days and get the standard service if its cheaper, seeing as the visa itself is 1000 baht I believe. Thanks again also what place did you use?

Thanks for the info :), How much did you pay and how long did it take? As i will be booking flights in advance so I want to be sure to leave enough time to get it done without stressing about getting passports back in time. 

I just did that about 30 days ago in Siem Reap. My guest house I was at did it for $55.00 us total for a 60 day visa. I trust the guest house or I wouldn't have done it. Had no problem, but it took 6 days. I could have rushed it for more money. Normal time is about 7 days or a rush I think is 5 days. They run it down to PP. 

Haven't done it from Siem Reap yet,but did it from Sihanoukhville recently.It was 60 $ and took 5 working days.For an extra 10 or 20 $ you could get it a day faster.Assume that it is similar from SR.

awesome thanks for your help, Unrelated but can I ask how did you get to sihanoukville, I am looking into going there at some stage from bangkok. looks like the easiest way is to go to Pnom Penh and then get a bus from there, but Iv also herd peope going down the coast from bangkok and getting a boat across? cheers

To go to Snooky from Bangkok is easy.

 

Take a Bus from Ekamai Bus station on Sukhumvit to Trat.

In the bus station in Trat you can get a Mini Bus that will take you to the Border

Cross the Border and have a motobike taxi take you to Koh Kong, there you have to (if you don't want to hire a private taxi) spend the night

Next day take a Bus (I am not sure about the frequency etc but other members will comment) to Snooky.

 

The Boat from Koh Kong to Snooky has ceased operating many years ago, so that info is quiet old

If you are in Bangkok, flying to Phnom Penh and taking the bus from there is probably best. If you are East of Bangkok, say in Rayong or Pattaya, the alternative via (Hat Lek) Trad province in Thailand and Koh Kong in Cambodia may be better. These days, following great improvement of the road, there is no express boat from Koh Kong to Shhanoukville (good riddance as it was pretty dangerous). You now take the bus,

I stayed at Saem Siemreap hotel (Flight & accom package AirAsia) and the hotel organised it through an agent that they used. The cost was 75 USD for 3 day turn around. It was a new passport and I was surprised that I received a call saying that the Embassy wanted to see a bank book or a mobile phone number in Cambodia to talk to me (the agent said the Embassy  knew I had been in Thailand a long time, this I very much doubted but they would have seen the stamp transfer into the new passport and may have drawn that conclusion, quite rightly in my case!). This was ultimately resolved with an additional fee of 10 USD and the passport returned on the 4th day. Relaxing in Siem Reap was spot on. Temples were great and a good enough night life. A number of people had said  that it is expensive but it is cheaper than socialising in Bangkok. I would love to get another SETV from there but due to the complications on my first one I will be better prepared next time with my bank book. It was a great visit overall and I thoroughly recommend it, but perhaps have your bank book with you just in case or be prepared to talk to the Embassy at least by phone.

Even when you get a new passport they can still see all your entries into Thailand. This has been discussed many times that getting a new passport does not erase your past. 

Thanks for the info on Siam Reap, Been wanting to go there for years and never seem to have the time. Going to just take the time off and go.

I knew that immigration could do so however the remark about length of time in Thailand was seemingly made by the Embassy in PP. It was this which was surprising given that it was a new passport and I do not believe that consulates have access to the immigration database. Hence the hypothesis that it was the stamp transfer that aroused their suspicions. In any event all was fine but it would have been even easier had I brought my bank book.I hope that you enjoy your time in Siem Reap I really enjoyed it.

I would presume it is not impossible for them to call Thai-Immigration and inquire as to a person's history - or you may be correct that they took a clue from the visa-xfer.  My agent suggested an air-ticket out of Thailand or a bank book.  I supplied a full-copy of my Bangkok Bank book with a decent balance and all incoming money from abroad - no issues.

How can you present a bank book to the embassy in PP when you're in Siem Reap? 

A new passport ,until recently, meant a reset to zero as far as embassies are concerned,but maybe they have started keeping records at some embassies.I assume it is only a question of time before they install an integrated computer network linking embassies and immigration.
