I've overstayed 3 days tomorrow. I want to fly sunday. Thats 4 days

Recommended Posts

Messed up.

Am here on visa exempt stamp that was renewed. Been here now just over 60 days.

Been in Bangkok and got sick. Just stomach bug. Got medicine from clinic. Never thought of getting medical certificate.

I want to fly sunday.

I was supposed to fly Wednesday but cancelled the flight.

What do I do? Can I pay the fine at the airport? 4 days at 500 baht?

Or should I wait and go to immigration here on Monday?

I want to fly to Laos and get a Thai Visa.

Has this hindered things?

What's the chance of being banned and/or not being able to get a visa?

Help!

  • You will have no problem paying the fine at the airport. When the IO see's your overstay you'll be taken to the overstay desk to pay the fine.
  • They will probably put an overstay stamp in your passport confirming the 4 days and fine paid.
  • You will not be banned when exiting at the airport,
  • The overstay will have no affect on getting a visa.
  • If you are caught on overstay before reaching the airport you could be arrested, detained, prosecuted, fined and banned.

Thanks, a great answer.

Will they ask questions as to why I have overstayed?

Will it be ok flying to Cambodia / Laos?

Or do they expect me to be returning to the UK?

  1. Probably.
  2. Yes, but Laos Airlines have been known to deny boarding for anyone with an overstay so it's best to avoid them.
  3. No you are free to fly anywhere.

Main thing is do not even think of turning around and coming straight back on another visa exempt entry after the overstay. Go somewhere that permits you to get a visa (Penang might be a good choice). If you come straight back for a visa exempt entry after the overstay, you may face denied entry.
