Dr Wisanu insists the government did not rush to seize Ms Yingluck’s assets

BANGKOK: -- The government did not rush to order the seizure of the assets of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra through the Legal Execution Department to partially recoup the loss incurred from the rice pledging scheme, Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu Krea-ngarm said on Monday.

Speaking in defence of the invocation of Section 44 of the interim constitution to facilitate the assets seizure, the government’s top legal hand maintained that the government did not skip normal procedure as alleged by critics, but instead added more procedure.

He said that similar special power had been invoked before to seize Sor Por Kor land at Phu Tab Berk in Petchabun province from those who have no right to occupy or own the land.

He asked if the Legal Execution Department was not assigned to seize the assets of those involved in causing massive damages to the state from the rice pledging scheme “which department will do the job because it is not an easy job.”

"...Dr Wisanu insists the government did not rush to seize Ms Yingluck’s assets..."

Come on Krea-ngarm - if, you'd moved any faster it would have been a full-blown stampede!

As for saying that similar special power had been invoked before to seize Sor Por Kor land in Petchabun province "...from those who have no right to occupy or own the land...". Well that is moot when we currently have Jaran Chiaravanont's residence sitting illegally on protected forest land in Trat province, and no one is talking invoking Section 44 over that!

Instead, we're told "it was not him that done it", it was his two assistants http://news.thaivisa.com/thailand/cp-board-member-didnt-infringe-on-forest-his-assistants-did/154671/.

If that be so, then maybe just apply Section 22 on each one of them and everything will be sorted!

Perhaps, the same could also be extended to Ms Pu too (in the interests of "reconciliation")?

Er? How long is since YL was removed from office by a court, shortly followed by the removal of PTP's collapsed regime?

Hardly the quickest judicial process here is it? And a process that is very prone to procrastination.

To be fair Yingluck and her master are probably appalled that things have gone this far. Whatever happened to the unwritten law that hiso elites always let one another off when power changed hands? Guess that attempted Amnesty coup was one step too much, along with the 2.2 trillion loan of course!

Er? Less than a month since Section 44 gets invoked and we've got the decision - that's pretty fast (especially by Thai legal standards).

So how much have they seized?,maybe if they had of been faster, before the

funds were moved out of the country.

Yingluck probably probably left a token couple of million baht in the bank, just so they get something. The other billions are looooooonnnnnggggg gone, possibly in a bank in Dubai for safe keeping, LOL...

They will never tell you how much was seized it would be to embarrassing to the government. The money train left the station a long time ago. Rich people do not get rich by being stupid.

they are trying to take back 20% of rice scam losses from ying luck. i wonder how much of her wealth that it. i also wonder what proportion of her money is now outside of thailand. would be hard to imagine she has much left sitting her bank accounts here.

Which judicial process are you referring to? Did you read about a Supreme Court Final Judgement on this case that I missed? The whole point is that the judicial process has been bypassed. Yet, the holier than thou junta lovers will always overlook this corruption in their glee to see vengeance, i mean justice, carried out.
