The Boonkannawas Temple was under water for the second day yesterday as major flooding hit Bang Ban district and other areas of Ayutthaya province. Most of the central provinces were inundated following heavy downpours over the past couple of days.

 

STORMS forecast for next month; authorities plan to raise water release from Chao Phraya dam and use water retention basins to ease floods

 

BANGKOK: -- THAIS IN Central Region could face more severe flooding, with four storms expected to hit the country next month while the Irrigation Department has prepared measures to cope with the expected deluge. 

The measures being drawn up by the Royal Irrigation Department (RID) include increasing discharge and opening up room for storage in retention basins.

Many areas along the Chao Phraya River, such as in Lop Buri, Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani, have already been flooded, RID director-general Suthep Noipairoj said yesterday.

How much of this excess water is being captured in order to alleviate concerns about the supply of drinking water in Bangkok?

We've just had the DPM saying the floods won't be as bad as 2011, well maybe he could have to eat his words.  Mother Nature has a way of making pompous people look very silly.

Face-sanity is doing the same old stone cold thing over and over again for many years, no matter how much global FACE you lose.......................... :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

Looks like 2011 again. The dams are full and huge storms on the horizon. Mismanagement starting in earnest in Ayutthaya and Ang Thong. Even the mightiest mouths can't stop mother nature. Hope they learn by now.
