Piano in a restaurant/cafe/hotel?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm hoping some of you long time Pattaya residents can help me out.  Do any of you know if there are any cafes, restaurants, or even hotel lobbies that have a piano? Not just a keyboard, but a real proper piano. I'm new and haven't had the chance to explore as fully as I'd like.  Seriously I'm open to any and all possibilities. I will get in touch with the businesses, but I just need my feet turned in the right direction. Thanks in advance.  :)

The Centara on Pratumnak has a player piano. Be aware that if you actually intend playing in public on any sort of regular basis you might need a work permit, even if you dont get paid.

Thanks. It's not for regular or paid gigs. I'm actually a high school music teacher, hoping to find some spaces for student performances.

Then I think that the Centara might well be interested as the piano is in the middle of their lobby and near their cafe. It's a player baby grand though it plays like a regular piano if you turn the automation off. Yamaha if I remember correctly. Nice sound.

Whenever I hear the words "teacher" and "piano," I'm reminded of the Eric Rosser affair...

Whenever I hear the words "teacher" and "piano" I think of people helping others to make good music. Glass half full, I suppose.

Ha ha...I'll take what I can get. Mixed reviews and all. Though I'd quit teaching to tour with John Mellencamp in a heartbeat.  I'm also a scuba instructor...so maybe not your typical mainstream teacher, but I love what I do,. And I love giving my students real-world application of their learning. Hence the public performances. :) I do still gig and perform myself, but usually for free or as a guest with another band since I can't really get paid as a musician in this Country. I'm still new to Thailand and figuring it all  the legalities out; since they're changing by the day.

Well I saw pictures of the piano on agoda...so I'll definitely go check it out next week sometime. Thanks for the tip. I'm hoping that they'll be happy for us to bring out own audience who will all buy stuff from the cafe as they enjoy the performances.
