Cabinet approves tax scheme to promote investments in Deep South

BANGKOK, 28 September 2016 (NNT) - The Cabinet approved a tax incentive scheme to promote investments in the three southernmost provinces.

Business owners in the Deep South will be entitled to double tax deduction until the end of 2020 under the new tax scheme. Business start-ups, whose 80% of incomes come from selling products or services in the restive south, will be qualified for income tax exemptions for five consecutive accounting periods.

They must, however, accumulate an annual income of less than 30 million baht to be eligible for the privilege. The Cabinet also endorsed a decision to exempt personal income tax for Thai athletes who compete in international events. These include money they receive from wining competitions and from organizations in a form of financial support.

Meanwhile, the State Railway of Thailand was given a green light by the Cabinet to proceed with its construction plan for a double track railway from Mab Kabao railway station in Saraburi province to Nakhon Ratchasima’s Thanon Chira station. The construction plan is part of the country’s transport infrastructure development to improve the efficiency of rail services.

Seems similar as to what China is doing in Kashgar for the Uighurs. Trying the carrot rather than the stick.

In China they always use the Stick. But used to hit people.
