Body in the freezer gang: FBI confirm all three are Americans and "Peter" is really "Herbert"

BANGKOK: --  Thai police have confirmed that all three of the suspects in the passport forgery and body in the freezer case are Americans.

INN reported Natthathorn Phrosunthorn of the immigration police as saying this could now be confirmed after receiving information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the US, reported Sanook.

The man earlier named as "Peter William Johnson" has now been named as Herbert K. 'Louvran' (surname transliterated from the Thai report may be incorrect). He is said to be 63.

This was confirmed after fingerprinting evidence and information from relatives. He was previously wanted on a charge of fraud though the statute of limitations had run out on this.

The second suspect was named as James Douglas Eger who had come in and out of Thailand 148. He had been permitted to stay in Thailand until 2017. His latest arrival was 2nd November 2014.

The third suspect was named as Gabriel Aaron Thomas who also had been in and out of the kingdom many times. He was said to be involved with three Thai women two of whom had no criminal background though the INN report was not clear in this regard.

Immigration told INN that they were happy with the technology used for checking passports saying that forgeries had been detected in the past in high profile cases.

The Americans: Head forgery ring suspect ran from FBI

By Chayanit Itthipongmaetee, Staff Reporter -

BANGKOK — One was an oil exploration specialist who resigned from an executive-level position at a Texas-based energy firm and moved to Southeast Asia eight years ago. Another was settled here with a Thai wife and young child.

The third man, suspected of shooting a Thai cop and keeping a frozen body in a freezer, seems to have been on the run from the FBI for nearly four decades.

It seems that at least two of them have done nothing wrong.

He can stop running now as he probably won't even be able to walk when or ever he gets out of the slammer!

So they were all likely to have been behind the guise of whatever business was out front, selling forged passports, drugs, weapons ,whacking guys chopping them up and putting them on ice. Well i hope they lived a nice life up until now because youre going away for a long time. I bet they thought if anything ever went down they would just bribe their way out.

God hates smart ar*@s! :wai::smile:

One can only imagine the mischief La Fon has been up to in the 40 yrs he has eluded authorities. Appears to be one nasty character and career criminal.

So one was not a Brit as first reported...

Maybe the UK should sue for defamation... :whistling:

Do you need a work permit to chop someone up and store them in a freezer?

No, just a label, with a sell-by date.

Not if it's for personal consumption

Those Yanks saved your country; where ever you are from.

If it wasn't for us, they were still to be discovered.

No work permit for this occupation,  it is protected employment for thai's only.

Told you all three were yanks the day the story broke.

And you also knew that the police interviewed all the Sukhumvit 22 bar owners the other day.
Hmm, me thinks you might know a bit more, but can't say.

So what about this Robert Grundy fellow? Is he the cut-up body?

I suspect they have been bribing their way out for years.

I think they killed him or he died in 2011, then they lived in his condo which he owned apparently, (and they claim to police they were renting), until they had to move for some reason recently. It seems they are trying to pretend that he just died  lately and was cremated. In 2011 his truck was also sold.  Maybe they collect his SS payments as a bonus? I guess if you can forge a signature that wouldn't be difficult. If you can make a new passport up you could empty his Thai bank account of funds.

The man (Robert Grundy) who owned  the condo they were "renting" from probably at first glance, appears to have been alive until very recently, because one of them was impersonating him financially so to speak ...maybe ...while he sat in the freezer?

Well this is just my guess.

(There is another thread about this, if some of you have no idea what I am talking about)

I absolutely agree. Or should the Americans sue for being falsely accussed of hanging out with a Brit. Its complicated.

What do you think "investigating" is?

Wonder where the freezer will end up......
