October 2, 20169 yr I am coming up to the first renewal of my long stay visa. After reading many of the threads on here I am a little confused as to what I need to produce at immigration when applying for it. Can anyone on here give me a clear idea please ?Cheers in advanceSent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
October 2, 20169 yr Before answering on your question as such: Did you use the chance to use your visa for a second year of stay by a simple border run? What's the "ENTER BEFORE" date on the visa sticker? What's the "ADMITTED UNTIL" date on the entry stamp? Edited October 2, 20169 yr by KhunBENQ
October 2, 20169 yr If the OA visa you obtained at an embassy has expired and you are on the last entry you got from it you can apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement during the last 30 days of your current permit to stay at immigration. Your visa will not be renewed. You will need 800k baht in a Thai bank for 60 days or proof of 65k baht income by way of a income letter from your embassy or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.
October 2, 20169 yr Also, since this post originated in the Chiang Mai forum, you'll need a receipt from your landlord, condo manager, owner of your residence that they filed a TM30 form with Immigration. But first, let us know the "enter before" date on your O-A visa sticker. It's very possible you can obtain another year of life from your O-A visa and avoid a the hassle of a visa extension at Immigration Promenada office for another year with a simple border run. I've known many Chiang Mai retirees who fail to obtain that second year of life from their O-A visas.
October 3, 20169 yr Author I got my visa from the embassy in London, it is a multiple entry O-ADate of issue....9 October 2015Enter before ....8 October 2016I arrived on 12 November 2015 and was admitted until the 11 November 2016.I travelled back to the UK on 5 May 2016 and will be arriving back in Chiang Mai at the end of this month, OctoberIt sounds like I need to get back before the 8th of October to get another year of life out of it, which could be possible Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
October 3, 20169 yr Yes! You need to re-enter Thailand on or before October 8. If you do that a one year permission to stay will be given. Any travel undertaken during the 2nd year will require a re-entry permit to retain the permission to stay.

If you return to Thailand (arrival date) before or on October 8: all fine. One more year. (don't forget to write visa number on departure card and check stamp after checkpoint) If after October 8: did you get a re-entry permit before leaving in May? Edited October 3, 20169 yr by KhunBENQ

October 3, 20169 yr Author Many thanks for your help. Unfortunately I will have to apply for a new visa in London as I will not be able to travel before November. But I now know what I can do next year, just so long as he rules don't change before then Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect

October 4, 20169 yr However during that 2nd year after arrving back in October he will need a re-entry visa if he wants to leave Thailand and return during that year. Also I believe, he will have to do 90 day reporting during that last year, won't he?

October 4, 20169 yr Since the OP is in Chiang Mai, he can still go up to Mae Sai and do a quick border crossing -- right? It's my understanding they're just not giving out visa exempt entries at Mae Sai. If I were the OP, I'd somehow adjust my schedule to take a little road trip in the next three days to get another 12 month permission to stay from that O-A visa.

Got mine in 2010. The financial requirements are based on the req. for one year extension in Thailand (800 k Baht). On one side every "retiree" is afraid that they will rise the amount. On the other hand the Pound has dropped sharply. So the local financial req. in UK might well change.
October 25, 20169 yr So if I am reading these posts correctly my original OA Visa , obtained in Canada on Sep 26 2015, and I entered Thailand Nov 6 2015, is good for another year from the date I returned from a vacation to the UK (Jul 8th 2016). My passport does show a stamp from that date saying :- Non OA 8 Jul 2016 Admitted until 7 Jul 2017. So I do not need to renew my OA Visa until July of 2017? Hard to believe Thai Immigration are giving anything away for nothing, but I'll happily take advantage of this if it's true. I was planning on lining up to renew on Nov 1st - next week. Maybe I don't have to go through with that. Thanks for accurate replies.

You will need to apply for an extension of stay prior to that date or return home to get a new OA visa. If you want to travel you need to obtain a re-entry permit to keep your current permit to stay valid when you enter the country. A single re-entry permit is 1000 baht and multiple is 3800 baht.
October 25, 20169 yr Thanks ubonjoe. By an "extension of stay" I presume you mean a regular renewal of my OA visa - the thing I'm avoiding doing next week. I understand about the re-entry permit if I travel before Jul next year. Keep up the good work.

You can only apply for a new OA visa at an embassy or consulate in your home country.
