December the Fifth Foundation to hold the grandest ceremony ever to mark HM the King's birthday

The December the Fifth Foundation plans to hold the greatest ceremony it has ever organized to celebrate His Majesty the King’s birthday anniversary next month. All Thais are encouraged to wear yellow shirts to commemorate three auspicious occasions related to His Majesty this year.

President of the December the Fifth Foundation Charin Suankaew (จรินทร์ สวนแก้ว) revealed that this year's celebrations on HM the King’s birthday anniversary are scheduled to take place during 2-6 December at Sanam Luang (สนามหลวง).

He said this year's celebrations are planned to be more spectacular than ever because three auspicious occasions coincide in this year. They are the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King's accession to the Throne, His Majesty's 79th birthday anniversary, and the occasion that His Majesty is approaching the 80th anniversary.

Mr. Charin has broken down the events as follows. On December 2, there will be a ritual to pay homage to the Phra Siam Devadhiraj (พระสยามเทวาธิราช) and a mass-ordination ceremony dedicated to His Majesty.

On December 3, there will be a walk-run rally presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha. The most important activity will take place on December 5, HM the King’s date of birth.

Mr Charin also urges everyone to wear yellow shirts during December 5th, and to go to the Grand Palace to welcome Their Majesties the King and Queen and members of the Royal Family. Members of the public are also invited to participate in the candle-lit ceremony which will take place at 7.00 p.m at Sanam Luang.
