BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Voters rejected a peace deal with leftist rebels by a razor-thin margin in a national referendum Sunday, delivering a major setback to President Juan Manuel Santos, who vowed to keep a cease-fire in place and not give up his campaign to end a half-century of war.

Hundreds protest in Bangkok urging junta to respect land rights

21 “dirty” factories are to be moved out of HCM City by year-end

BANGKOK — Come tonight, the football jerseys, wooden elephants, cheap electronics, sex toys, Viagra, cheap food, DVDs, velvet paintings, sarongs and everything else that has been sold along the northern side of Sukhumvit Road for decades is supposed to be a thing of the past.

Court sets October 11 to rule bail revocation of five redshirt leaders

Sondhi’s wife dies of cancer at Bangkok Hospital

BANGKOK: -- Former People's Alliance for Democracy leader Sondhi Limthongkul's wife, Mrs Chanthip Limthongkul, died early today at Bangkok Hospital of cancer.

 

The death of Mrs Chanthip, a former lecturer at Srinakharinwirot university, was disclosed by a former PAD activist   Panthep Puapongpan on his Facebook page today.

 

Panthep said Mrs Chanthip died at about 5.30am today at Bangkok Hospital, where she had been treated for the final stage of cancer since April this year.

 

He said he would visit Sondhi at the Bangkok Remand Prison to inform him about her death this afternoon.

 

Evening prayers will be held for her from October  4-10 at Sala 1 of Wat Makutkasatariyaram.

 

The cremation is scheduled for October 11, at 5. 00 pm.

 

Sondhi is currently serving a 20-year jail term after being found guilty by the Supreme Court of falsifying documents used as collateral for a billion -baht loan from Krungthai Bank.
