November 28, 200619 yr Is there anything to prevent me from applying for a 12 month extension to the above type visa at say the nine month period. Realising of course that the 12 months will begin from the initial entry date of say Jun 06. This will cost 1990 baht for 3 months but as I understand the situation I can then apply for the next 12 month extension say 10 days before the expiry date (Jun 07) which will cost another 1990 baht of course. Reason for the delay relate to the fact - I have been happy to have the 12 month visa and pop over the border each 3 months - with the latest changes I feel it is time to follow the extension route, but having relocated in the last month or so feel it will be better to live in the new location until say Mar 07 (hence the 9 month) then apply for the 12 month extension. If this is not feasible then happy to spin the current 12 month visa to 15 months then pop back to Oz or closer and obtain a new 12 month MI "O" and follow the 12 month route on the new visa. All comments welcomed.
November 28, 200619 yr You can begin the extension process during the last 30 days of any permit to stay. AFAIK The extension SHOULD be dated from your LATEST entry to the Kingdom (not the first). "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
November 28, 200619 yr As said apply when you have between 30 and 15 days remaining on any 90 day entry and the 12 months will be counted from that entry date. The cost is 1,900 baht.
November 29, 200619 yr Author Ok thank you - I was probably confusing the backdating with the situation of when extending on the first 90 day of a 12 month visa the point is always made it (the 12months) starts from your initial entry date (which in essence is what you are saying but it has also been highlighted it applies to any 90 day period that you apply in). mijan24
