BANGKOK: -- The cabinet on Tuesday approved the formation of a 13-member “forward cabinet” tasked with resolving the protracted unrest problem in the three southernmost provinces.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha assured that the “forward cabinet” would not duplicate the works and responsibilities of the two key agencies in the region namely the forward command of the Internal Security Operations Command and the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre.

The “forward cabinet” will facilitate coordination of all relevant agencies tasked with addressing problems of all aspects of the restive region and its first task is to drive forward the nine-point strategy for the Deep South.
