CP Chairman says Thailand could lead ASEAN countries in moving towards 4.0 era

BANGKOK, 10 September 2016 (NNT) - One of Thailand’s leading economic experts said Thailand would set an example as an industrial developing nation for ASEAN countries to follow in moving towards the 4.0 era.

Charoen Pokphand Chairman Dhanin Chearavanont said industrial growth in ASEAN would certainly happen quickly if every government in the region allowed entrepreneurs who are financially and technologically ready to invest in their countries.

He claimed Thailand would serve as a good example of a nation that is striving towards the 4.0 era following several changes made to business laws to accommodate investments and the government support for the development of innovation.

While the global economy remains sluggish, Mr. Dhanin said, America was likely to be the most resilient nation among others due to its advancing technology and modern laws.

Japan and China would be the second and the third most resilient countries in the current economic climate. Japan has an advantage over the others in terms of bio and robot technologies while China’s political stability has enabled its economy to grow continuously.

A good example of what to do and what not to do. Thailand for decades had an advantage of infrastructure over the rest of the region but this is disappearing fast as the other nations are catching up.

" China’s political stability."

Only one problem.......many ASEAN countries are already moving towards 10.0 era.

Don't think they want to move backwards.

Leading from the rear?

Right - Thailand is fast becoming the land of missed opportunity.

Why? Inviting foreign entrepreneurs to hold that 49%?

Yippee! 4.0 Era?

"...Dhanin Chearavanont said industrial growth in ASEAN would certainly happen quickly if every government in the region allowed entrepreneurs who are financially and technologically ready to invest in their countries..."

In other words, simply let rich unscrupulous manipulators bypass countries laws and business regulations, and push aside local investors for their own selfish financial ends !!!

Gives new meaning to the title CP All !!!

4.0,  that's advanced... and here I thought they were still beta-testing the whole mess.

As an Irishman once said to me  "Follow me, I am right behind you!"

Which, if any of the follow might present challenges?

  • Adequate skill-sets to expedite progress?

  • IT security issues?

  • IT snags?

  • Loss of jobs to automatic processes, especially for lower educated parts of society?

  • Need to protect industrial knowhow?

  • Reluctance to change by stakeholders

  • Required reliability and stability for critical machine-to-machine communication (M2M)?

  • The integrity of production processes?

  • Threat of redundancy of corporate IT departments?

They better start practicing military coups if they want to keep up with Thailand.

wonder what version of thailand is going to have road maintenance carried out. roads around burri ram are getting very bad. we have 2 small ponds outside the front gate of my girls house. on the plus side my son likes to play with his boat in them.

As a bear of very little brain I have never really got to grips with this Thailand 4.0 shenanigans.

Now I hear that CP are enthusiastically behind it - I think I may understand more. The workers and customers can expect to get screwed?

With the principles of the sufficiency economy guiding everyone, of course.

Is this 4.0 era a maintenance release?

Yes, Thailand would serve a good example for countries like Japan and China.

Prattling to itself and fooling nobody.

Every day is Groundhog Day in Thailand.
