You've missed the point. It's not the gun crime that is the sole issue, the point is that in the Philippines they are taking a very hard line on criminal activity in general. In Thailand however they don't even bother to visit a person at home when they open fire on a public hi way. I find that fact quite unbelievable.

It is frightening, and anyone who doesn't think that way perhaps needs to really have a think about what is really going on in this country. In my view there is no effective policing, it is just a group of poorly trained men whose sole purpose seems to be to collect money from individuals for what are mostly trivial issues.

I do know one thing for sure. If i was told those facts about the policing here in Thailand before coming here I would absolutely never have come in the first place. Right now all I see is further decline, not improvements and as the economy shrinks (and make no mistake it is) crime will only increase, this is the nature of things.

There is corruption across SE Asia, in most countries and it needs tackling but to not have real police who enforce the law to protect everyone equally, foreigner and local is a step too far for any sensible person to consider Thailand a serious destination for settling down

This is my view, I am aware others may disagree and talk about other places being as bad ,,,blah blah blah,, all I can say to those is I hope you do not need the "real" help of the police here one day for I fear unless you cough up a bucket load of cash you won't get it.

It is nearly impossible to control possession of illegal firearms.

High fines, long prison sentences, may help a tiny bit, but only for a short time.

The police, anywhere in the world, is completely powerless in this.

Only results come from accidently finding guns, rapping, checks, but hardly ever detective work in finding arms.

The result of tighter laws will mean legal owners get more control.

Useless and costing many man hours.

Sounds like an attitude from our friends in the US. I completely disagree with what you are saying. Having tight gun laws does reduce the number of firearms, legal and illegal.

In my country i have never even seen gun yet alone heard one. Yes there is gun crime but statistically it is rare and generally seems to be localised amongst gang members.

So, tight laws are not a waste of time if you want to reduce the amount of firearms in your country.

You mean Lieutenant Fletcher Christian took it away from him and left it in thailand? Anything is possible in Thailand. Talking about Buddha and start shooting. Just like in my country religious people talk about God and they wenking all the times. Not right men, not right.

"Wenking?" I assume you mean they are "manipulating their own genitals", to be put as politely as I know how.

Not sure what that has to do with guns (or God) really, unless of course you are referring to the "shooting" aspect of it. In which case I would like to know how you know and also I would rather have this kind of shooting going on it private then shooting guns at each other.
