Pediatric dentistry

Featured Replies

Our lad has a bad tooth that needs pulling. Made an appointment at BHP but they only have the one dentist that does kids and no slots available for almost 2 weeks. Are there any other dental clinics in Pattaya that may have a decent pediatric dentist?

Thanks!

NL

I dont know about Pattaya but at Phyathai in Sri Racha they have a lot of decorations for children on the walls of at least one surgery, which presumably means that they handle that to an extent. You could check with them about availability.

I didn't realize that dentistry was that specialized these days.  When I was a kid, back in the Dark Ages (the 1950s and 1960s), we kids went to the same dentist as the adults.  Welcome to the 21st Century, wpcoe!

Same for me. We had just one dentist in our village and that was the one you went to, regardless of how old you were.

Thanks for the Phyathai info.

And thanks for the words from those with, "When I were a lad..." syndrome. Good laugh... now put your teeth back in. When I was growing up, there was also just one sort of dentist but things have changed and now there are dentists that specialize in kids dentistry and there are dentists that avoid treating kids.

So if anyone knows of any of the hundreds of dental practices in Pattaya that are kid friendly, I would appreciate it... and the lad even more so.

I took my 8 year old to K. Warin who has a place on North Pattaya Road, in the row of shophouses on the east side of Fairtex. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the clinic but the shophouses are set back a little from the road and there's a fairly new Bangkok Bank in the same row. K. Warin's place is next to a Korean restaurant and I think he's the only dentist in the row.

His approach when dealing with my daughter (who was petrified) was absolutely first class and it completely blew me away. I know of friends who have taken their kids to get treatment at the international hospitals who have experienced their screaming kids being strapped into/restrained in the chair for the duration of the treatment which is what I intended to avoid and so i did not have high expectations. Had that been K. Warin's plan of action I would've walked out the door rather than traumatize my child with such an ordeal. However, to my surprise (and great relief), K. Warin was the most patient and understanding dentist I have ever come across. He's a relatively young guy - mid-30's to early 40's I would guess - but he was genuinely fantastic. He explained to my daughter exactly what he was about to do before he did it, every step of the way, and he wouldn't proceed until she gave him the green light to do so. If she became upset at the thought of what was coming next he would simply down tools until she had calmed down and was ready for him to carry on. It took quite a while for her to get a couple of fillings but he didn't seem to mind, and I am sure she will have no fear about going to the dentist again in the future.

If he treats all kids the way he treated mine then I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him - he was seriously awesome. Here's the number for his clinic in case you want to give it a try: 038 720 079.

I'm on it Jimmy. Many thanks!
