Seasoning Money

Featured Replies

I am currently on non immig b visa.  I am about to put  800,000 baht from thai savings into new seasoning savings account.  In January I will apply for Extension of stay based on retirement.  Will it be ok having the money come from a thai account and not from overseas.

Yes

Do you have a valid visa obtained from a Thai Embassy/Consulate or an extension of stay obtained from an Immigration office?  Are you working and do you have a work permit . Are you intending to continue working ?

All these questions have a bearing on how easy or otherwise it might be to obtain the extension you want.

The money does not have to come from abroad.

Thanks Fithman, I do have a valid visa obtained from a Thai Embassy,  I do not require a work permit for my visa as I only attend meetings in Thailand.

Yes that will be accepted as the money doesn't come from abroad.

You might want to get your story straight about why you entered with a Non 'B' and are not going to be working. Attending meetings technically requires at least a valid Non 'B' (Business) visa entry, and wouldn't be allowed if you're on an extension of stay based on retirement.

Yes, you can use money from a Thai account, but you might be asked to provide documentation to show where the money came from (i.e is it money you earned from employment, money you had previously transferred into Thailand etc.) When I did it at Bangkok Immigration in 2010 I had to provide such.
