NCPO sets up security command in Grand Palace area

BANGKOK, 20 October 2016 (NNT) – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has established a security command to oversee peace and order and provide conveniences to a large number of mourners expected to pay homage before the royal urn of the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Grand Palace, starting on 28 October.

NCPO spokesman Col Winthai Suvaree said a joint security command has been established to maintain peace and order in areas around the Grand Palace by cooperating with varied authorities.

The command is scheduled to hold a meeting with varied government agencies at 11.00 a.m. daily and will accordingly adjust its operations to provide assistance to the general public in the most efficient way, he said.

The spokesman said the general public will be allowed to pay homage before the royal urn located in Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall inside the Grand Place from 28 October 2016 as a large number of people are expected to come over that day.

He confirmed that the security command will provide its best service to the public in line with the NCPO chief's suggestions.
