Thailand's ousted prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra said the military junta that overthrew her has ordered her assets seized and fined her THB35 billion baht over a rice subsidy scheme critics say hemorrhaged billions of dollars.

PHUKET: Four people were arrested yesterday (Oct 21) in connection with the fatal shooting of van driver Mr Jumnong Kaewphrod on the morning of Oct 8. One of those arrested was Mr Jumnong’s wife.

Thai research team discovers chemicals which can stop cancer from growing

A research team of Naraesuan University has successfully extracted chemicals from the latex of Rak plant (Calotropis gigantea) which are capable of inhibiting the function of a protein which is essential for the growth of cancerous cells, said Dr Supawadee Pahera, a lecturer at the faculty of pharmacy of the university.
