Thai tourist visa from Chengdu China?

Featured Replies

I am looking to travel to Chengdu in China for a week in December. Is it possible to get double entry tourist visas for Thailand there?

If so what documentation would I need?

I have checked their website http://www.thaiembassy.org/chengdu/ but there is no English version.

If anybody is in the know or who has successfully obtained a tourist visa there I would appreciate any help

Thanks in advance :)

You will not be able get a visa there unless you are Chinese or a resident there.

Two entry tourist visa are longer available anywhere since the multiple entry visa became avail in November of last year.

Is there a reason why China doesn't give Thai visas? Do you have first hand experience of this?

I am not Malay national but I got a tourist visa in Malaysia.

I did mean the multi-entry visa

Thanks

The fact that they only issue visas to Chinese and legal residents has been discussed several times on this forum. It is the same at the embassy and all the consulates located there. There are sevral locations in the world that have the same requirement (for example Japan).

This from the embassies requirement to get a visa. http://www.thaiembbeij.org/thaiembbeij/pdf/visa_requirement_eng.pdf

For foreigners Please note that the Royal Thai Embassy will only accept visa application from individual(s) with residency permit in china, providing that the residency permit remains valid after completing the trip to Thailand.

You can only apply for a multiple entry tourist visa in your home country or country of legal residence.

As far as I know the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Shanghai continues to issue TVs to non-Chinese nationals. Of other consulates I cannot speak.
