PM appeals to the people to have trust in him

 

 

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha on Tuesday appealed to the Thai people to have trust in the laws of the land and to refrain from fighting one another, saying that such fight, when reported by foreign media, will leave a bad impression among foreigners towards the country.

 

He said he wanted the people to feel the way he now feels with the late King Bhumibol. “I feel that he (HM the King) has always been with us and will remain so, will never leave us and will stay in our hearts.

 

The prime minister urged the public in general to make use of the late King’s advice, statements or anything which was used or tried by the prime minister, for their benefits.

 

He claimed that the practice of sufficiency economy philosophy in the past several years had helped the country survive several crises such as the tom yum kung financial meltdown and the huge flood four years ago.

You are only as good as your last sale. People tend to remember the bad as well as the good. 

It's not trust of the laws that's the problem it's how they are applied and in Thailand it's all too often for a select group or individual rather than the common good and the junta is as complicit in this as any other govt.

Despite the PM and his cronies high moral stance they have a lot to answer for. I won't say a lot to explain away as transparency isn't really their thing.

Is it the hi-so law or the law of the common people that you have to have trust in?.

This guy is so full of $#it it's untrue... How can anyone with an ounce of intelligence respect a set of laws that are not only enforced in different ways depending upon who they are used to target, and which can and are used by crooked persons to deflect attention from their own crimes, often criminalizing legitimate plaintiffs in the process.
This guy and all his cronies are becoming more objectionable by the day, they are not fit to utter the king's good name.

Trust has to be earned old chap. So far I can't see that it has.

I personally wouldn't trust him to sit the right way on a lavatory. That's all I am able to say, unfortunately.

Sounds like another country's "law enforcement" policies......

Didn't he take over in a military coup and didn't he throw away the constitution?  Isn't that considered disregarding the laws of the land?

I will have "trust" in Prayut when he and his generals meet a fate similar to Saddam Hussein. Overthrowing a democratically elected government is treason. He can make his appeal for trust as he stands on the scaffold.

Rich,influential,commit the most heinous crimes,never see the

inside of a court,or if you are very unlucky,get a suspended sentence.

One Country,two laws.trust me.

Well, said Worgeordie.  However, this certainly applies to many other countries in the word from which many of the forum members hold passports.

How does the old saying go??? Oh, yeah - "It’s Better to Beg for Forgiveness than to Ask for Permission", and in his case it's just the kind of rhetoric we'd expect from a military "strongman" who is unwilling to take responsibility for anything, while blaming everyone else for all the current problems.

As others have already mentioned there is a lot to be said but simply cannot say it, and that says a great deal about the current state of affairs.

I am willing to give him an iota of trust if he stick to the 2017 election time frame and rescind restriction on freedom of speech.

He has earned the trust of the wealthy and select few whose interest he protects.  The average Thai would be silly to trust a man that trashed his voice in government, gave himself and his cronies immunity then renamed military law to article 44.   There is nothing remotely trustworthy about this man.   

I think Ronald Reagan said it best.   

 

I think the PM is doing a good job in a country that has been a political basket case.

Didn't Prayut denigrate PM Yingluck's handling of the flood and its results?

I say nothing…….   O yes when I hear Donald call Hillary a k/nt and Hillary call Donald a p/ck I think thai politics is a bit better
