BANGKOK: -- Police have arrested several Nigerians and a Thai woman who were cooking coca leaves at a house in Samut Prakarn on Saturday.

The leaves were put in a rice cooker that suddenly overheated and burst into flames, reports Daily News.

The resulting fire seriously burnt a Nigerian man called Sangama Fores, 40, who was detained after being treated at a local hospital.

The Thai woman - Kanyakorn Phonkornburi, 30, was also arrested.

Two others in the house managed to flee in a black BMW but were tracked down and arrested later in Pak Thong Chai, Nakorn Rachasima yesterday. These were Ifenyi Gerry Yadet, 40, and Sukwma Kasmia Sukwajikwa, 41.

Both denied being involved in the cocaine production operation. Police don't believe that and all have been charged with making a class 2 drug namely cocaine.

So what were they making a goodnight coca drink? Come on! Obviously not the brightest lamps in the street.

Good to know that Nigerians are roosting at Samut Prakan...

Growing rice is a no brainer and with no more  government subsidies

people are turning to more profitable crops.

if that is locally grown it is verrrry interesting.

It take massive ammont of leaves to make a small ammount of cocain the ammount that fits a rice cooker in not worth the effort, unless it was an exerimantal batch...... flamable solvents are used so maybe why there was a fire.

You know waaay too much about this topic :stoner:

Obviously cooking some coca leaves in a rice cooker is quite not enough to make cocaine, and the process is a bit more complex.

Also it is quite unlikely the coca is grown locally as the plants do not grow in Thai climate.

It sounds more like a coca tea, as dangerous and psychoactive as an oolong tea

Nigerian:: And, finally, one more wafer-thin leave

Rice Cooker: Nah

Nigerian: Oh, it's only a little, thin one...

Rice Cooker: No. <deleted> off. I'm full.

Nigerian: Oh, come on. Hmm?

Rice Cooker: [groan]

Nigerian: It's only wafer-thin.

Rice Cooker: Look. I couldn't eat another thing. I'm stuffed  Bugger off.

Nigerian: Oh, just-- just one.

Rice Cooker: [groaning] All right. Just one.

Nigerian: Just the one, dear Cooker. Voila.

Rice Cooker: [groaning louder]

Nigerian: Down the hatch.

Rice Cooker: [groaning even more]

[suspenseful music]

[music stops]

[crash]

[BOOM]

The story of Escobar and the DEA...quite cool yes... and lot of details about coca

A quick google revealed the Dutch exported coca from Java, Indonesia around 100 years ago. It's in the neighbourhood.

What brand rice cooker was it?

Should be named and shamed so we can avoid using it.

They should stick to their oil scams and phony ATM cards and romancing lonely Thai ladies and leave the cooking to experts. To many cooks in this kitchen. Did the rice cooker not come with instructions to cook cocaine someone should contact the manufacturer about this error.

Coca leaves in Thailand?

A Nigerian in a BMW...that's as out-of-place as me in a  classroom :sleepy:

Nope, the line is never get high on your own supply

As has been said - it's ludicrous to think you could make cocaine in a rice cooker.

These fellas may well get stuck with a very stiff penalty.

Those must be some of those "Bad guys out" that immigration is always talking about,

and whom make life for honest people here harder, due to ever increasing forms and

information they require, bet those guys dont do 90 day reports,TM 30,etc.

It's not what you believe, it's what you can prove, at least that's the way it's supposed to work, but then again, this is Thailand.

I'm led to believe from all the tv shows that the tree only grows above a certain altitude.
