Bali Hai - Jomtien Boat Relocation

Featured Replies

I saw a convoy of 6 boats on trailers bouncing through the Rompho market roadworks on Jomtien Second Road this morning.

Does anyone know where the relocated boats are being stored/berthed in Jomtien?

Reports are that the very nice men in green have found the boat operators a 14 rai area big enough to store 500 boats in Soi gorpai aka soi khorpai aka theprasit soi ??
Seeing as its 5km away from the launching ramp some operators may find somewhere closer and more convenient.

Thanks. Then I wonder where that unusual mid-morning convoy was heading into deepest Jomtien.

The nice men in green have also decided that speed boats can no longer launch or land a Bali hai pier and have designated the launch ramp at Jomtien Soi 11 (in front of SCB bank ) as the new speed boat launch/ land point.

I can see from my balcony that in the last few days many boats being trailered down

Thappraya rd and straight into Sai 2 Jomtien heading south.

None have turned left into Thepprasit as some have suggested that they will be

stored in Soi Korpai.

Going to be a real mess there for sure.

This is not progress for Jomtien.

We will get the passengers as will i think.

lovely hordes of Chinese to come with there buses  , Oh no

I haven't verified just repeating what has been reported storage at soi gorpai on off ramp at jomtien soi 11

With 1,440 minutes in a day and each boat taking a couple of minutes to launch, I wonder how much they're charging for tickets to watch the 24/7 brawl?

Will they be allowed to run those decrepit Ford tractors they use for towing on theprasit  road?

I saw one being towed by a Ford Ranger yesterday :P

The paper that we aren't allowed to post quotes from said yesterday in an article that they will relocate them to designated areas by Soi 11 and Soi 14 on Jomtien Beach. Does that make sense to anyone? Any big, empty plots of land down there?

The plot on Soi Kophai was ruled out as the access road is too narrow.

report here of the reason for the clear out

http://manager.co.th/Local/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=9590000111261

the nice men in green want the area for  "ASEAN International Fleet Review 2017"

Another 575 million baht to be spent on a new "marina"  ( yes another one )

179 million baht to be spent renovating the old " marina"

100 million baht for "reception buildings"

The Pattaya Bali Hai problem has been solved and moved to Jomtien.

The main Beach Road is heavily congested with motor bikes pulling banana boats and jet skies, slow moving tractors hauling dozens of boats, buses picking up tourists, normal 50000 baht buses and Soi Wat Boon closed for repairs.

Dozens of boats seem to be left in the water.

Most a 2 stroke monsters and when the pilots "warm up" the motors the smell and fumes from these "easy to fix" motors fogs the nearby beach.

Now Jomtien has become even more heavily polluted with traffic, smell and noise.

Thank you.

Well done. Move the problem to another area. see pic and note the motors were not going.

yes same at about 11.30 a.m. yesterday

I saw a bunch parked off Jomtien Beach 2nd road near Soi Wat Boon.  Can't remember which side of the round about.  Saw a tractor pulling 2-3 boats up Wat Boon from the beach also.

yes i was unclear -  very quiet as you said

Perhaps they can use all the rubble from the buildings they are going to pull down on Walking St. to make a breakwater off Jomptien beach and leave the boats in the water.

Here is one of the plans for the area I've seen floating around on the internet.

I wonder if the thinking is to  make walking street no longer sea front ...and so not encroaching on the seafront thus wont have to be removed

using the same theory they could build a whole new row of  hi rise condos in front of existing condos (aka VT7 ) and be darned what the existing condo owners think about having their view obliterated.
