Is there any other road in the world that goes thru the changes this road does? everday there is something going on. usually something is being changed that has only recently been "fixed"

What are the "new" driving rules for the 4 lane section? I sure havn't figured them out!

Lane 1 is obviously for parking, lane 2 is for motorcycles? lane three is for everybody else as lane 4 is usually blocked by lane "huggers\roadhogs"

Road construction/maintenance/repair in Thailand has got sod all to do with actually making traffic flow smoother or safer. The single objective is to create as much congestion and mayhem during the construction period and extend that period as long as possible. That way, on completion, people remark how much better it is now, having forgotten what it was like before, missing the point that nothing has in fact changed. :D

Thus in a years time they get to do it all again because it has been noticed that the congestion on that stretch of road has again become intolerable. :D

If that fails, in time honoured fashion learnt from the UK, the water/phone/cable TV company will come along to install new or improved services usually about a week after completion. :o

It would seem that most people didn't read the news item a few months back when the authorities announced that all the roads being dug up throughout Pattaya to lay new water pipes, would not be properly re-surfaced until the entire new water system is completed, tested and up and running.

The reason for this is that if they re-surface as they go - then they will only have to dig it all up again when they test the system, and have to locate all the leaks in the new pipes.

So if things go according to plan, the contractor laying the pipes will go broke just before he finishes the work. A year will go by and they will discover that the water pipes were not up to the specification required. It will take another year or so before a new contractor is appointed to re- lay the pipes, and probably several more years will elapse before the project is finally completed. They will then test it, fix the leaks and some time in the 22nd century, get round to re-surfacing all the roads.

This will all happen just after they finally finish screwing around with Beach Road, and just before they put in a safe crossing from Beach Road to Walking Street.

After all, what more can one expect of a "World Class" tourist resort? :o

Don't know if you noticed that the part of sukhumvit from the jomtien upwards to sattahip is resurfaced already. The only problem is that only after a month or so it's full of potholes already.drivingstroke 1 and 2 are simply unusable. In my opinion is the pattaya section of sukhumvit the worst part of the entire road from bangkok to sattahip.

It will get worse. Belive me with all the new View Talays and Robinsons and whatever being planned and already being constructed.

There will be a huge number of more vehicles in the city after completion.

They should re-locate all big malls/supermarkets/ordinary markets to the other side of highway No. 7 (viewed from the sea) in order to reduce city traffic.

And they could also try to complete the highway next to Regents School, so that we could get rid of all traffic going to Sattahip through Pattaya Sukhumwit.

But that is only my thinking. I bet there are a lot smarter hired people taking care of the infrastructure in Pattaya :o
