i have a multiple entry tourist visa and my first 60 day entry is coming to an end. I am suffering from a prolapsed disc in my back and so wanted to find a visa-run agency that does a good quality, minimum hassle, comfortable service (a reclining seat on a coach would be great). does anyone have any recommendations. I have seen the advert for thaivisarun in the bangkok post and wondered if they were the best choice. Also - I haven't done a visa run before - am I right to understand that that is the way to start the second 60 day stay permitted under my multiple entry tourist visa?

Many thanks for any advice - if anyone has any advice for how to recover from a prolapsed disc I certainly wouldn't object to hearing it either.

You can obtain a 30 day extension with a visit to immigration office and filling out a TM.7 form, 4x6cm photo and 1,900 baht and save the visa run for next month if you want. I assume you have a two entry tourist visa valid for six months from issue.

thanks for the suggestion. i have a 4 entry tourist visa valid for 6 months. What documents/reasons do you need for a visa extension, how long do they take to get and are would it be pretty much be automatically given?

Once I'm given this how does it effect the rest of my multiple-entry visa? eg have I used up my second entry or do I still have 3 entries left?

Visa run company suggestions would also be gratefully received in case the extension proves too much hassle.

Many thanks

Well if you have a four entry and not planning travel there is no need to obtain extensions, except perhaps on your last entry as all entries have to have started before the six months are up. Believe any of the firms that advertise in the classified section of Bangkok Post are about equal, if using large bus. If it were me I would fly to Singapore and return on a low cost airline where you are not subject to bumps of the road for 8 or 10 hours.

The extension is almost always granted and not a big deal at all - but only gives you 30 days where the visa run will give you 60 and you have the entries to burn. I will add that a four entry tourist visa is very rare indeed.

In your condition I would say fly to the cheapest destination you can find outside the country, there are plenty of cheap flights available these days. ( choose a country where you dont need a visa to enter that country). You only have to arrive and depart, no need to stay over or leave the airport. You could be out and back in just hours. You dont need a company's help and most of the buses will certainly throw you around a bit.

thanks guys. I tried the flight idea as my first approach but it is proving problematic to find a suitable flight due to the Thai public holiday on tuesday.

I'm interested in the extension suggestion. Does anyone know what documents/reasons do you need for a visa extension, how long do they take to get and how it would affect the rest of my multiple-entry visa?

Many thanks once again

Your passport and arrival card and probably copies of each (photo copy shops across from immigration know what you need). TM.7 which can be downloaded and computer filled out (print on one sheet) or done in ink at office. Photo current within 6 months (there are shops around area if you don't have any) of 4x6cm or 2x2". 1,900 baht. Extension time 30 days. Reason for extension is travel in Thailand. Wait is queue - a couple minutes to a couple of hours. You get queue number from information desk just inside entry doors.

The only effect is the time you have to use the other 3 entries. So if you did this again with your second entry you would be near the six month limit of the visa - in that case you could leave a couple of days before visa expires (even though you still have several days remaining on your permitted to stay stamp) and return to use your 3rd entry and receive another 60 day entry that could be extended 30 days. You would never be able to use your 4th entry as visa validity period would have expired by this time.

thanks - much appreciated.

The 4x60 days entry tourist visa is from the thai embassy in London in case this is helpful to anyone.

Did the extension today, got a 30 day extension to my tourist visa, and even though the office was busy, it only took 50 minutes from start to finish. Many thanks for helping me with this. Certainly a lot easier than a visa run.

Yea but maybe you should start planning and booking the next one as you'll need to do run in 29days time, just hope you feel better..Good luck
