24 petrol stations found below standard from DOEB inspection

BANGKOK, 15 November 2016 (NNT) – 24 out of some 9,000 petrol stations nationwide failed the Department of Energy Business' (DOEB) stress test to regulate oil quality in the country, says DOEB chief.

DOEB Director-General Witoon Kulchroenwirat revealed the department has conducted inspection at petrol stations, retails, and transport vehicles during October 2015 to September 2016. The tests confirmed that oil quality from 24 locations are below accepted standards.

The inspection was conducted using the DOEB mobile lab units to collect 15,834 samples from 9,129 locations, with 26 samples returned sub-standard, most of which found to be mixed with illegally imported petrol.

Petrol stations found to possess sub-standard oil from this inspection will face legal action in accordance to the law, the DOEB director-general has said.

The DOEB is now aiming to conduct oil quality inspection at 9,050 more locations in 2017, with a focus on stations with previous records of selling sub-standard oil. The general public can inform the DOEB should they find any sub-standard oil being sold by calling 0 2794 4011-12.

Yes I have bought gas for my motor bike from my village mom and pop stations that made it sputter and spatter along for some time indicating a bit of water I would guess.

How many petrol stations have their pumps giving the correct amount of fuel ?

Only 24?   I find that hard to believe.
