There are two main types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. Type 1 is where a child’s pancreas is unable to produce the insulin it needs to survive. This insulin then needs to be replaced through medication. It used to be known as juvenile diabetes because it is more common among children, though adults are also affected by type 1 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is diagnosed when there is insulin resistance, and the body does not use insulin as it should – to carry glucose into the body’s cells so it can be converted into energy. The body thus needs more insulin and eventually, the pancreas cannot keep up.

“…type2 diabetes is easier to predict as there are several risk factors including obesity, a sedentary lifestyle…”

Also heading to the sugar drink stand and 7-11 on a motor bike right after school ends seems to fit the bill.

Let's not fail to mention the archaic belief that obese children signifies prosperity of a family. As long as there is this belief and adults make a big fuss about how cute fat toddlers are, this culture will reinforce the habits and lifestyle which lead to diabetes.

I see two types of kids in my school.  Growing number of fat, not chubby but really fat  children with extremely bad teeth and the other group is hopelessly weak with bad teeth. It does not reflect the parent's income. Most of them play late night or even early morning. So bad eating habits and lack of sleeping definitely cannot result in healthy adults.

But schoolkids should make their homework in the MacDonalds, that's good! Where else can they sit after school? At least Macdonalds takes care of them :passifier:
