BANGKOK: Two men from Cameroon have been arrested following the discovery of more than EUR150,000 of counterfeit notes.

Police arrested 36 year old Ondoua Anselme after the counterfeit cash was found in his vehicle when police carried out a routine check near Thammasat University on Tuesday.

Following further investigations Thai police late arrested another Cameroonian named Fouda Paulin, reportedly a student at Thammasat University, following a tip off about an international network of forgers who are active in Bangkok.

A search of the property where Paulin was known to reside unearthed 5 packages containing counterfeit notes valued at EUR50,000.

Police later found computers, printers, scanners and other small tools, in addition to the paper used to make counterfeit notes in a search of an address known to be frequented by the pair.

A report in Cameroonian media claims that Anselme admitted to producing the fake cash.

Both men are currently being held at Bangkwang Central Prison.
