Car export is expected to reach 1.25 million this year

 

 

BANGKOK: -- Thailand is expected to export 1.25 million cars this year compared to last year’s 1.2 million cars, thanks to demand growth in the markets in North America, Australia and Oceania Asia, said Mr Ong-art Pongkitvorasin, president of the automobile cluster of the Federation of Thai Industries.

 

He pointed out that Middle Eastern markets used to account for 26-27 percent of Thailand’s car export, but the demand for this year has dropped to only 14 percent as a result of global oil price drop.

 

He said that Middle Eastern markets were likely to shrink further as countries in the region were about to impose tighter control on cars which are regarded as environmental unfriendly.

Thailand has so many natural advantages in this sector, it is one area they should maximise. It has to help at the same time their markets are also scaling this industry back domestically. Tragedy what has happened in manufacturing in Australia. Frankly globalisation is cruel.

Nope

Australia no longer has a vehicle manufacturing industry or any manufacturing industry.  The great aussie icon the Holden is now going to be produced in Thailand.  Still designed in Australia but manufactured in Thailand.  Probably around 80% of vehicles will be imported from Thailand to Australia from 2017.

Made here is enough to claim them plus being kind enough to let the Japanese etc put their company names on the vehicles.

Trump is a navel gazer, a protectionist  if you can believe anything he says. In any event he will screw America first but I have a feeling the DC bureaucrats will just carry on governing. He'll end up being very vanilla, with a touch of rum and raisin.

some positive news for thailand. thailand should probably be thinking ahead to the big change that is coming with the move away from fossil fuels.

Yes globalization world wide is terrible. Try and tell some poor smuck in the West who has a wife and kids and wants to retire with dignity that he must be sacrificed on the alter of profit so that somebody in Asia or China can work for poor wages and  under lax environmental laws its pathetic. Nothing is saved. Big business gets access to cheap labor here but when it sells their product it charges the Asian North American prices and pockets the difference. Pollution in New Delhi is terrible and China has just posted the worst pollution in years yet the profit wagon rolls on. Modi is in Japan looking for more polluters to come to India and set up shop.
