BANGKOK: -- The "gig" of an Israeli man at the center of a sensational murder case has told police that she never met Shimon Bintan's wife Nitaya.

But Shimon told her that if anyone ever asked after her she should tell them that she had died of cancer, reports Daily News.

More than ever police believe that Shimon, 50, is responsible for the murder of Nitaya Saeng-urai, 37.

Her father reported her missing earlier in the week. She has not been seen for about a year.

Shimon has admitted killing a compatriot Eliyahu Cohen, 63, and cutting him up and covering him in plaster in the cupboard under the stairs at a house in Bang Bua Thong.

"Pranee" (an assumed name) said that she met Shimon in July of 2015 and they were lovers. But they argued and split up.

She told Arun Wicharasrisukanya heading the investigation that she had never met his wife but knew she was the mother of Ben Bintan, 17, who is also helping police with their enquiries.

After the couple argued Shimon told her to say she had cancer if anyone asked.

Nitaya's father said earlier in the week that Shimon told him that his daughter was arrested on a drug charge in Laos. However, word from the Laotian Embassy was that she had not gone there.

Police searched another house in Bang Kruay, Nonthaburi, midweek looking for the remains of Nitaya in the drains and under a cement walkway but they found nothing.

Investigations continue.

Yaakov Shimon Sakira Bitton, 50, Saturday arrested for the murder of Eliyahu Cohen, who he buried under concrete.

BANGKOK — Testimony from those who knew a man accused of murdering a fellow Israeli and suspected in the disappearance of his wife is yielding more questions than answers for police.

Investigators on Thursday evening interviewed another mistress of Yaakov Bitton, identified as only as Pla, who said he instructed her to tell people that his wife, who went missing a year ago, was dead.
