November 26, 20169 yr The mention of Liam Neeson made me remember the under-appreciated movie Rob Roy. Excellent flick and Tim Roth is amazing in it!
November 26, 20169 yr Greatest film in many ways I ever watched is Ghandi. Film I watched the most times ( about 8 times), and still brings tears to my eyes in the closing scene is Dirty Dancing

I think Cruise is a darn good actor. I'd say it is no mistake Newman, Nicholson, Scorsese and many other excellent actors and directors worked with him from the mid 1980s thru the 1990s. I also would point out the early 2000s as a period he made some very good films.. This includes Vanilla Sky, Collateral, Minority Report and The Last Samurai.
November 27, 20169 yr Author another one that comes into my reckoning,THE ROBE. then wasnt the follow up DEMETRIUS AND THE GLADIATORS. another 2 great films.

Cruise doesn't get enough credit for his body of work. Probably because of his weird off-screen persona (sometimes) and that whole Scientology thing. But the guy's done some memorable stuff. Along with the movies you've mentioned, I'd include Color of Money, Interview with a Vampire, Mission Impossible(s), etc. I think his best work was Born on the Fourth of July.
November 29, 20169 yr Berk... I agree 100%. He was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Kovic. Also for his supporting role in Magnolia. Wish he would get back to similar roles as opposed to his recent concentration on action oriented efforts.
