retirement permit done, when does 90 day start

Featured Replies

hi i done my retirement permit two days ago, does that reset my 90 day reporting, i know when you go out and back in to Thailand your 90 day re sets.

It does not reset your 90 day reporting unless your local immigration office does a new 90 day report for you and puts a new receipt in your passport.

so, that means that if I entered 27 Sept and renew my extension before 26 Dec (extension expiry date is 27 Dec) without a formal 90 day report at the same time I will be illegal after 26 Dec?

I thought that if you renew on or before the extension expiry date that the 90 day period would auto start on the expiry date...no?

Only the first extension of stay (without TM.47) is regarded as the start of a new 90 day period (unless TM.47 is report is allowed by the office used and submitted).   So yes you would be in violation of 90 day reporting if you stay longer than 90 days without submitting a TM.47.

so that means 'under any circumstances' except for the first extension application...

I never realized this...this year is the first year that I've been retired and for a long time I was only home on leave for 2 weeks to renew my extension so there was never a problem (90 day period starting on first day of entry)...

thanks lop...good to know otherwise I woulda been illegal just a week or so after renewing this time...

tutsi is in chains being transported to the immigration lock up: 'bbbbut I just renewed my extension...?' 'ah, falang...but you did not file a TM47, falang...bad luck for falang...(heh, heh, heh)'

It's just a 2000B fine: not reporting doesn't affect the legality of your permission to stay in any way.

Whether you report or not you already have permission to stay for a year, and not reporting is just like a parking offence: you accrue fines but it doesn't affect your immigration status.

You can do your 90 day report up to 15 days before the report date or 7 days after without being fined.

No lock up for late or not reporting. Just a 2000 baht fine when you went back to do a report.

Extension and 90 day renewal dates are completely separate procedures.

Some Immigration offices will reset your 90 day report when doing an extension, but don't surmise they did.

Always check the date on your previous receipt for the next date to report, or if you don't yet have a receipt, report 90 days from when you entered Thailand.

I get yer point and the others that not reporting on time is not like overstay where there are serious consequences...I been livin' here a long time now and still ain't got things figured out...I've had continuous extensions for 6 years and have never done a 90 day report...

thanks folks...
