Hi, We are wanting to send furniture, decor etc from Chiang Mai to Hua Hin. THe shipping companies in Ban Twai & area all charge $15,000 to ship by truck plus $15,000 for 'packing'.

The packing charge seems outrageous and we are trying to find out how people move things within Thailand if you need something larger than a pickup rental. We are looking to rent, hire, a company or person or drive ourselves and rent the vehicle. Also, not sure how sending by freight train works, so if anyone has any info or can link us up, that would be fantastic. cheers

Our company does removals, and the price you have been quoted doesnt seem too rediculous.

Some of the major moving firms want over 20,000THB just to move a townhouse full of stuff from one place to another in Bangkok.

Youve been quoted 30,000THB to ship stuff around 1000Km. Thats three days work for around 10 guys, plus fuel, plus packing materials, plus business overheads, plus truck charges and dont forget to add a profit margin on top of that. Does it seem so expensive now?

Actually the OP used a dollar sign in front of the amounts he quoted. I hope that was a mistake and that he actually did mean 30,000 THB, because 30,000 dollar (whatever kind of dollar) does seem outrageous.

we moved from Chiang Mai to near Aranyapethet last September. After trying a few firms we ended up getting a normal(5ton??) truck to move us, cost 13.000baht. we had expected a bigger vehical but what you expect and what you get are two different things in LOS.

It was a nightmere of a journey, 20 hours in total with our dog tied to the tail gate, poor mut. I know that plenty of big trucks can be hired at a cheap rate, I did it in the Pattaya area too. Just remember you get what you pay for.
