GHB hosts seminar on fintech to prepare Thailand for digital banking

BANGKOK, 23 November 2016 (NNT) - The Government Housing Bank has hosted a special seminar to prepare Thailand for the emergence of financial technology and the arrival of the digital banking era.

At the seminar, which took place on Tuesday, Korn Chatikavanij, a former Finance Minister and the current President of the Fintech Club of Thailand, said that the club has been pushing for the introduction of the National Sandbox, which will be the platform for all fintech operators to experiment their businesses.

Mr. Korn said the National Sandbox will be ready for all operators in 2017, when members of the public are able to enjoy more innovative financial services.

Meanwhile, the Bank of Thailand and the Securities and Exchange Commission have announce their joint plan to introduce the Regulatory Sandbox in a move to show the public sector’s determination to promote the fintech industry.

GHB President Chatchai Sirilai added that all commercial banks are getting ready for the arrival of financial technologies by improving its electronic services to boost work efficiency.
