Laptop electric adapter with higher AMP than original one, is it ok as long as voltage is similar ?

Featured Replies

Hello, I cannot find the same new electric adapter for my laptop so I bought one which is also 19.5v but 4amp (the one coming with the computer is 2.31amp).

Can you confirm that I won't have any problem even for long term ?

Thank you.

It will be fine.

Some laptops (e.g. Dell) talk to the adaptor to determine its capabilities, but if it's a pattern unit the laptop won't be able to communicate and will likely just charge at it's minimum rate.

Thank you. It seems to work, but next time I will order on Internet, they are a lot cheaper than in Bangkok or Pattaya.

I don't think anywhere on the internet can beat the electronic parts shop on Thepprasit, where such adapters are between 300 and 350 Baht. Bought a few lately of different voltages, and all between that price.
