Thailand poised to host international golf event from Dec 3-9

BANGKOK, 24 November 2016 (NNT) – An international golf tournament, the Amazing Kingdom of Thailand: World Club Championship 2016, is set to take place in Ayutthaya province early next month.

Mr Pitak Intrawityanunt, Founder and Chairman of Ayodhya Links, revealed that the Amazing Kingdom of Thailand: World Club Championship 2016 will be organized between December 3 and 9 at Ayodhya Links in Ayutthaya province. Renowned golfers and businessmen interested in the sport from 15 countries, numbering over 200, are expected to participate in the event.

The golf tournament is considered an excellent opportunity for Thailand to showcase its tourism potential as it seeks to promote the country as a leading destination for sports tourism, ecotourism and cultural tourism. Various activities to be held during the tournament are also believed to contribute to national economic stimulation.

Wonderful idea to showcase Thailand as THE place to come for golf. I am sure that all the invited attendees will have a wonderful time.

They can then return home with photos to show the less fortunate of a golfing paradise that is a private club and beyond the reach of any tourist wanting to play there.

There re so many excellent courses open to the public as visitors, why not use one of these. Elitism rules !

There are many 'exclusive' golf clubs in Thailand. However, there are also some very affordable ones too. If a tourist can afford to come here on holidays they can afford to play golf. That's who they are aiming this event at. Obviously golf is an expensive sport that is beyond the lower echelons of Thai society. That's the world we live in unfortunately...

I'm somewhat surprised in the current situation the tournament is to straddle Dec 05 so will play be suspended on the day ?

Perhaps on the 5th, there will be great activity at the 19th hole?

Who are these internationally renowned golfers who are playing in 2 weekes

Grief! There's always someone who asks a difficult question. If you're a golfer you would know that the renowned ball smackers are....y'know, er, thingamee bob and whatchmacallit and Also Ran, the ones who bring their own stick things with them:passifier:

Anybody that ponies up the entry fee.

I doubt if many "Renowned golfers" will be showing up at this event is this announcement is the first they have heard of it; most of these people have their playing Calendars virtually filled at least a year in advance.

Personally I am delighted that I can't afford to play golf. I doubt if I could afford the bats, and I don't have the figure for loud checked trousers...
