Lao National Busted with1,500 Counterfeit US$100 Notes in Bangkok

BANGKOK – Metropolitan Police chief Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathavorn said at a media briefing on Wednesday that Lao National Somvang Pouangmalay, 48, was arrested with 1,500 counterfeit US$100 notes at a Bangkok hotel.

Pol Lt Gen Sanit said Mr. Pouangmalay was caught in possession of the counterfeit currency by special operations police in the lobby of a hotel on Krung Kasem Road in Pomprap Sattruphai district.

The police lay in wait at the hotel where the suspect was reported to have often delivered fake banknotes to customers from tourist spots in Yommarat, Bang Rak and Silom areas.

So who exactly were the usual customers for these fake $100 bills?

Thai merchants, farang tourists, touts?

And who were the usual victims?

Thai merchants, farang tourists?

Someone was getting stuck with these because a bank would be able to detect they were fake.

Also the story this links to shows $10 notes

Anyone got Somvang's address I want to hire the printer out......................................:cheesy:

Job well done by the special operations police. I'd hate to be stuck with one of these bills. $100 wouldn't break the bank but would still upset me quite a lot.

Don't tell Larry Summers he wants to withdraw the $100 dollar note.

Police have caught another major kingpin - the courier.....
