German Ambassador Peter Pruegel, left, shakes hands with Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith after they signed a joint declaration of intent yesterday.

BANGKOK: -- THE THAI MINISTRY of Transport and the German Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure have signed a joint declaration of intent (JDI) on further cooperation in the development of railways.

The signing took place yesterday at the Thai ministry’s head office between Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith and German Ambassador Peter Pruegel.

Well who have we got China , Japan interested now Germany , Japan and China have noticed one vital component missing , Money, even at Chinese prices of fifteen million usd a kilometer the high speed option is certainly out, the rail projects are getting as boring as the education, drought, flood mitigation and tourism  B/S that have dragged on for decades ........................:coffee1:

Maybe the German involvement is limited to making sure the new 'flying pig' trains will run on time?

'Exchange of knowledge''? i rather expect this to be a one way street with some frustrated Germans being told ''You no understand Thai logic''

A "joint declaration of intent"? A meaningless and worthless document unless accompanied by money as an inducement to encourage government officials to demonstrate some intentions.

The Thai Authorities will get 5 or six more Declarations of intent as long as the Railway can be built for 1000 baht a metre you will get the job. Plastic rails and styrofoam sleepers
