Submit your photos for the 2017 Thaivisa Calendar

Continuing the great work done by Tywais and team in previous years, it's that time of year for starting the design of the 2017/2560 Thaivisa Calendar.

Previous calendars, 2010-2016, were a great success due to the excellent photo contributions from Thaivisa members.

HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn presided over merit-making ceremony marking the 50th day of the passing of King Rama IX

BANGKOK, 2 December 2016 (NNT) - His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodintharathepayavarangkun yesterday presided over the royal merit-making ceremony marking the 50th day of the passing of his Royal Father, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, at the Dusit Maha Prasart Throne Hall in the Grand Palace.

His Majesty the new King was accompanied on this occasion by the royal sisters and his children including His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti.

Arriving at the Dusit Throne Hall at about 5 p.m., His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn laid the royal wreath of Queen Sirikit -- royal consort of the late King Rama IX, followed by his own wreath.

He then paid respect to the royal remains and to the Buddha image of the Ninth Reign respectively. This was followed by the chanting of prayers by a chapter of 30 monks and a sermon given by Venerable Phra Thepsangvorayan from Borvoranivet Monastery.

The sermon, entitled Bhumibol Dhamma-gatha (ภูมิพลธรรมกถา), was about the five dhamma principles that King Rama IX upheld and formed the strength behind his success in developing the country during the 70 years of his reign.

Those principles were the royal faith, perserverance, mindfulness, concentration and wisdom. The sermon was followed by a set of prayers by four monks, after which His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn presented necessities and saffron robes to the officiating monks. He then paid homage to the royal remains before leaving the Grand Palace.

And in conjunction with the royal merit-making ceremony on the 50th day of the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn commanded that a set of six books be published for distribution.

In the set are, among others, a book entitled ‘When I Left Siam for Switzerland’ written by King Bhumibol, the cartoon version of The Story of Mahajanaka, a photo book about Thong Daeng royal pet dog, and a collection of articles about His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
