user555
Tomorrow, Dec 5 should a national holiday, commemorating King Rama the 9 day of birth. I wonder: 1.Is there any change, since there is a new king now. 2. Will it be commemorated/celebrated differently this year? 3. Any advice for foreigners how to behave? Pib
The holiday is still occurring for this year...but obviously it's no longer celebrating a birth.

RichCor
Just contemplating this today. I'm assuming two observed dates may be adjusted sometime soon to reflect that of the newest King of Thailand: Coronation Day H.M. King's Birthday (Father's Day may stay Dec 5, or the government may change it to continue to coincide) H.M. Queen's Birthday (Mother's Day may stay August 12, or the government may change if H.M. marries and there is a new Queen.) bkkmick
My daughters tell me the Fathers Day part is no more, but they're probably getting out of buying me a present!
