I hear different answers to this question so Im wondering if anyone knows definitively: My thai wife and child (from Udon Thani) wish to join me in going to Vientianne via Nong Khai Friendship Bridge. My question is, can they cross into Laos on their thai id cards, and if so, what is the procedure, and, if they use their passports, are they required to get a Laos visa at the border at a cost of approx 1500 per visa?
